A man and a woman have been arrested after allegedly being found with about $100,000 and drugs following a wild motorcycle chase through a popular Brisbane tourist spot.
Police said the 38-year-old man and his female passenger sped off on a motorcycle through construction work at South Bank Parklands when they were asked to pull over on Grey Street on Wednesday morning.
“The motorbike accelerated away at speed before entering the Southbank Parklands on Russell Street, driving past workmen and pedestrians and through fencing,” a police statement said.
Police said an officer chased the motorcycle on foot before intercepting the man but the 33-year-old woman ran away.
Officers in an all terrain vehicle caught up with the woman and found about $100,000 in vacuum sealed bags along with multiple mobile phones, police said.
Police allege sealed bags containing what they believed to be methylamphetamine was also found during a search of the motorcycle.
The Inala man and Collingwood Park woman have been arrested on a total of 12 charges including trafficking dangerous drugs.
Both have been refused police bail and are due to appear in a Brisbane court on Thursday.
